VERGELEGEN V

One of the great ‘icon’ red wines from South Africa. A Cabernet Sauvignon dominated blend with a nose that is complex, showing blackcurrant, cedar wood, lead pencil and cigar box aromas. These develop in the glass and are joined by raspberry, black cherry, spice, and a hint of gaminess. On the palate the wine is concentrated but elegant.

Enjoy with almost any red meat, especially served rare to medium rare.A beautifully marbled steak, slow braised beef or venison are always going to be firm flavor match’s with this extraordinary wine! 

Composition: Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc.

Can be enjoyed on release and will ‘cellar’ for the next 20+ years. 

 

VERGELEGEN GVB RED

A classic Bordeaux blend this wine shows a rich ruby color with almost opaque centre. Cassis, pencil lead, spice and red berries abound on the nose. The delicate fruit, tannin structure and fine acidity indicate a wine of balance and finesse reflective of the Vergelegen terroir.
A match made in heaven with game dishes, southern barbecue or beef fillet.

VERGELEGEN GVB WHITE

 

Using the classic varietals of Vergelegen Estate, Semillon, and Sauvignon Blanc this wine is pale yellow-green color with a nose reminiscent of freshly squeezed lime juice. On the palate, it is elegant and refined with flinty, mineral overtones and hints of black truffle.

Most enjoyable with oysters, lobster, chicken, and fish dishes.

Composition: Estate Semillon, Sauvignon Blend.

VERGELEGEN CHARDONNAY RESERVE

An attractive lemony yellow-green color with a complex nose and palate of citrus, white peach, vanilla, butterscotch, pineapple with mineral tones. A long and full finish which is complex and powerful, yet still elegant.

The laser-bright acidity means you can drink it on its own, or pair it with grilled shrimp, scallops, crab gratin – or chicken (anything from roast to salads) or cheesy/creamy/lemony pasta dishes.

Composition: 100 % Estate Chardonnay.
